DRINKING WATER

It is recommended that you kindly bring your own drinking water. The locals drink the water from the river that flows from the mountains but it’s safest to have your own drinking water.

TOWELS

In an effort to cut down the amount of detergents being leaked into the river, we encourage all guests to bring their own towels.

MEALS (ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE – INCLUDES MEALS AND ACCOMMODATION)

Food is inclusive in the price of your Bure booking (inclusive of meals and accommodation), but you may want to bring snacks and water as there is no shop. The Meal Package includes Dinner on arrival, then next day Breakfast and Lunch prior to departure. The menu is authentic Fijian food (traditional and modern). For example, breakfast may include coconut lolo, babakau, pudding, and draunimolo tea while dinner may include root crops, rou rou balls and vakalolo or perhaps a modern-day Fijian favourite such as curry and roti.

TRANSPORT TRANSFERS

Guests arrange their own transport to Namosi Eco Retreat. Guests without transport can be provided with our Transport Factsheet detailing options for public transport, self-drive rental vehicles, or privately driven vehicles. It is recommended that guests use four-wheel-drive (4WD) transport for the Namosi Rd, as while public transport buses use the road it is easier in wet conditions to drive a 4WD.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID

An emergency phone and first aid is available at the retreat. In a medical emergency guests can be transferred to Navua Hospital (otherwise to Suva). Phone: Namosi Eco Retreat 7739378 or 777 9099 (both sometimes offline) or EMERGENCY ONLY Navunikabi Village landline: 6030 548

CHECK-IN TIME (AND CHECK-OUT)

Check-in time is very flexible and you just need to let management know 48-hours in advance (2 days in advance) – remember that in the absence of internet, phone and shops ALL arrangements for your stay (catering, cleaning, staffing, etc) must be finalised 24-48 hours before your arrival. Generally, the most popular check-in time is 2pm (to cater for those travelling to Namosi on the ‘carrier truck’) and Check-out time is 12pm midday (all bookings are inclusive and include Dinner on the day of arrival; Breakfast and Lunch pre-departure).

DEPOSITS AND PAYMENT

A 50% deposit is requested one (1) month prior to arrival to hold bookings. Deposits are non-refundable. The final 50% for full and final payment is due on arrival (or for large group bookings (3 or more bures) then two (2) weeks prior to arrival) for the non-refundable final payment. Namosi Eco Retreat will supply company bank account details when you make your booking.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We try to be as fair as possible with our Cancellation Policy, but hope you understand that given the remote and boutique venue our expenses are incurred in the week prior to your arrival, including landscaping, maintenance, pre-ordering food and other costs. For this reason, the cancellation policy is strict.

Sorry wet weather is not a reason to postpone – most Fijian days have rain and sun – the only exception being Cyclone conditions or severe flash flood warnings, and in those cases please stay safe at home.

  • Bookings postponed a minimum 48 hours prior to arrive (2 days before 9am of the day of reservation) will not have to pay the final 50% (payable on arrival). The 50% deposit is non-refundable. (We do offer, in certain circumstances such as cyclone warnings, the opportunity for guests to postpone and re-schedule within 2-months, only if they cancel a minimum 48 hours prior to arrive (2 days before 9am of the day of reservation).
  • Requests to postpone less than 48 hours prior to the arrival date will incur a 100% charge as by then we have pre-hired staff, purchased food and made preparations.

CLOTHING

To enter the Namosi Eco Retreat you will pass through a river (about ankle/knee deep) then walk a few metres past the edge of a village, so we ask that you bring spare shoes and also respect local village culture and wear a sulu/sarong (ladies may wear a dress that covers the knees). In the retreat you can wear whatever clothes you wish, as the retreat is outside the village boundaries. Bring warm clothes as the mountain highlands can get cold especially at night – much cooler than the Fiji Coral Coast or Suva.

Bring spare shoes; it’s best to walk across the river to enter the eco retreat in open shoes (ie open toed walking shoes as flip flops/thongs can come off in the river), but have closed hiking shoes for any walks or for cool evenings.

SMOKING

Smoking is allowed 24hours in designated smoking areas. There is strict ‘no smoking’ in the highly-flammable Bures (huts) or any buildings, nor at communal areas such as during dinner time.

ALCOHOL

There are no sales of alcohol at the retreat. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol though:

  • There is no electricity and therefore no refrigeration to keep drinks chilled
  • We are neighbours with the Navunikabi Village and we ask that guests please respect the local village and drink responsibly without excessive noise or inconvenience to the local village.

FACILITIES

Each Bure has a double-bed, sheets, 1 blanket and large mosquito net. Some also have a table for use as a clothes rack or bag rack.

GOVERNMENT TAXES

Our prices include relevant Government Taxes. Most tourism businesses in Fiji are taxed at a 25% tax rate (9% Value Added Tax (VAT), 10% ECAL, 6% STT). The retreat pays other government fees to iTaukei Land, FNPF, Hotel Licence and Business Licence fees.

PETS

Sorry no pets.

WHEELCHAIR

Unfortunately the Namosi Eco Retreat, located in the untamed mountains of the remote Namosi Province, does not offer wheelchair access. We apologise but this is not currently possible.

CHILD POLICY

Each bure accommodations two adults, and can accommodate additional children (single mattresses).

Children are welcome and encouraged to visit our family-friendly retreat. Ask about our Family Triple Share (includes 1 single for a child) and Family Bure Offer (2 Bures for a family of 2 adults and 3-5 children of any age). For babies, we have one (1) cot at the retreat, available for free on a “first come” basis. (Transport for children: Please note the road to Namosi is a dirt road and can be rough in patches; so please ensure you have appropriate child safety seats.)

MINIMUM STAY REQUIREMENTS

The Retreat does not have any minimum day stay requirement. However, given the remote location and many on-site activities and experiences, we suggest visits of 2-3 nights (2 full days) or longer.

ROOM & BEDDING CONFIGURATION (Maximum and Minimum numbers per room)

Each bure has a double bed to accommodate two adults (a maximum of 2 adults per bure is bookable, with the exception being large group bookings of more than 20 pax). For children, two additional single mattresses can be added comfortably.

WHAT TO BRING

We do recommend that all guests bring a torch, warm clothes, umbrella, hat, clothes and shoes for hiking, reef shoes for river crossing, drinking water, mosqitoe repellent and sunscreen and light clothing. The nights can be cool so if you think 1 blanket is insufficient then bring more bedding.
